News Release Robertson, Dean recognized October 15, 2009 Robertson, Dean recognized for JCHCA Board service
Members of the Jackson County Health Care Authority’s Board of Directors recently said goodbye to two of their colleagues, whose terms ended at the September board meeting.
Board Chairman Derrell Massey presented plaques of appreciation to Doyle Robertson and Larry Dean.
“As a group of board members, we have been very fortunate to have Mr. Robertson’s leadership over many years,” Massey said. “And Mr. Dean was a very faithful board member, as well. We will miss his perspective.”
Robertson, a facilities planner at Boeing in Huntsville and a resident of Hollytree, was appointed to the board in December of 1996. A little less than a year later, in November of 1997, he was elected Chairman of the Board, a role he held until stepping aside in January of 2007.
“It has been an honor to serve on the JCHCA Board,” Robertson said. “The healthcare industry was extremely challenging when I joined the board and then became chairman. And it remains a very dynamic and fast-changing industry today. Fortunately, our board has successfully worked with the leadership of Highlands Medical Center and its affiliates to position our healthcare system for future growth and service to our county.”
Dean, owner and operator of Dean Farm Supply in Hollywood and a resident of Tupelo Pike, was appointed in September of 2003.
“I enjoyed serving with such a fine group of board members,” Dean said. “It was very rewarding to play a part in advancing our healthcare system. I’m very proud to have been associated with Highlands Medical Center and all of its affiliated healthcare services.”
The current JCHCA board is working as a team with hospital administration to address changes in the health insurance industry, an escalation of technology requirements, and a growing national physician shortage. These are just a few of the countless changes affecting the healthcare industry.
“It is very critical that our Board of Directors work closely with us in continuing to ensure that we evolve as a healthcare system, as the industry evolves,” said Kim Bryant, Chief Executive Officer. “We have a strong board that functions well together, and Mr. Robertson and Mr. Dean have certainly been key contributors in the board’s efforts.
“I worked with Mr. Robertson for more than 10 years, and I greatly admire his leadership and all of his efforts to help make Highlands Medical Center and our entire healthcare system an organization that we can all rely on and be proud to call ours.”
